Human Rights Collaborative (HRC)
Our team provides pro bono medical and psychological forensic evaluations documenting torture and ill treatment for adults and children seeking humanitarian protection in immigration court.
Training
We create a pipeline of UCSF student, resident and faculty clinicians trained on trauma-informed care for immigrants. This builds the capacity of our health system to provide trauma-informed services to foreign-born patients throughout their careers, as well as to perform medicolegal forensic evaluations. We lead in training students, residents, fellows, and practicing clinicians by disseminating best practices and through tailored development of trainee curricula.
Research
We aim to understand what immigrants seeking humanitarian protection need to prosper in their new homes. We document regional patterns of torture and ill-treatment.
Capacity Building
We draw on UCSF's clinical expertise to build capacity amongst community-based local and international partners serving immigrant and asylum-seeking migrants.
